Top 10 most beautiful beaches in Thailand 2026

Editorial selection of the 10 most beautiful beaches in Thailand: Railay, Koh Lipe, Freedom Beach, Koh Kradan… tested and validated over 11 stays.

Thailand has over 3,000 kilometers of coastline and nearly 500 islands. Selecting the 10 most beautiful beaches is necessarily an editorial choice. Ours is based on three criteria: the raw beauty of the landscape, the quality of the on-site experience (crowd, water, accessibility), and the uniqueness compared to other beaches in the country.

We ruled out two types of beaches: those that have become impossible (Maya Bay limited to 350 visitors/day but saturated all year), and those whose magnificent images hide a disappointing reality. Conversely, we highlighted some less instagrammable beaches but where the experience remains authentic.

The ranking is editorial. No beach paid us to appear here.

1

Krabi · Andaman Coast

Railay Beach

Only accessible by longtail boat from Ao Nang, Railay remains, despite its fame, the most spectacular beach in the country. 80-meter limestone cliffs, coral sand, emerald water. The peninsula actually houses four distinct beaches — Railay West for sunset, Phra Nang for swimming, Tonsai for climbers.

The catch: Railay West hotels charge €200+ per night. Staying in Ao Nang (€10) and crossing in the morning (€3) remains the most economical option.

🌡️ Ideal season: Nov-Apr · 🚤 Access: 15 min by boat · 🏖️ Crowd: high

Koh Lipe · Satun

Sunrise Beach

Often described as 'the Thai Maldives'. Almost powdery white sand, transparent waters at 28°C, atoll grouping three beaches according to sun orientation. Sunrise Beach is the largest and quietest of the three.

The island remains preserved because difficult to access (flight to Hat Yai then 3h ferry). Hotels are growing fast — visit before 2028 before the island loses its charm.

🌡️ Nov-May · 🚤 Ferry from Pakbara · 🏖️ Crowd: moderate

3

Phuket · Andaman Coast

Freedom Beach

15 minutes by longtail from Patong (the most crowded beach in Phuket), Freedom Beach offers the exact opposite: 300-meter long white sand cove, crystalline water, no more than 50 people in high season. The contrast is spectacular.

Recently classified as protected, access is by boat (400 ฿) or by a steep 30-minute trail. No hotel on site — come early in the morning, leave before 4 pm.

4

Trang · South

Koh Kradan

A whole island. A single 2 km beach, turquoise water on white sand background, view of karst peaks offshore. Voted most beautiful beach in the world at the 2024 World Travel Awards. And yet, almost empty during the week.

Only five hotels on the island, the most iconic being the Anantara with its overwater villas. For mid-budget, Seven Seas Resort offers bungalows at €70.

5

Krabi · National Park

Koh Rok

Two twin islets connected by a cove. Snorkeling there is among the best in the country — preserved corals, leopard rays, clownfish. Only accessible on day trip from Koh Lanta or Koh Lipe. No hotel.

🌡️ Nov-May🤿 Top snorkeling🏖️ Low
6

Phuket · South

Nui Beach

Hidden beach between Kata Noi and Nai Harn, accessible via a 10-minute trail or by water taxi from Kata. 100m of golden sand, jungle descending to the water, Robinson vibe. A small local restaurant.

🌡️ Nov-Apr🚶 Walking access🏖️ Moderate
7

Koh Phangan · Gulf

Thong Nai Pan Yai

The antidote to the Full Moon Party. Northeast of Koh Phangan, crescent-shaped bay closed by hills, calm water, fish restaurants right on the beach. A few high-end resorts (Anantara Rasananda).

🌡️ Jan-Aug🚐 30 min from port🏖️ Low
8

Koh Samet · East of Bangkok

Sai Kaew Beach

The beach closest to Bangkok (3h by bus + ferry). Very white sand, calm water, frequented by Bangkokians on weekends. Prefer weekdays. Good option for short stays without long-haul.

🌡️ Nov-Apr🚌 Short trip from Bangkok🏖️ High WE
9

Phuket · North

Mai Khao Beach

11 km of golden sand north of Phuket, in a national park. Aircraft landing corridor right above — the visual experience is unique. Much less crowded than southern beaches, large resort hotels.

🌡️ Nov-Apr✈️ Planes 30m above🏖️ Low
10

Koh Tao · Gulf

Tanote Bay

East of Koh Tao, protected bay ideal for snorkeling without a boat. 15-20m visibility, frequent stingrays, regular turtles. A few beachfront bungalows.

🌡️ March-Sept🤿 Snorkel from beach🏖️ Low
