Cookie policy
This policy details how cookies and other trackers are placed and managed on lheureduvoyage.com. It complies with the CNIL guidelines (deliberations of September 17, 2020) and with the EU ePrivacy directive.
What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file placed on your device (computer, smartphone, tablet) when you visit a website. It stores information related to your browsing: preferences, session identifiers, audience statistics.
The term “cookie” is used here in a broad sense to refer to all trackers covered by article 82 of the amended French Data Protection Act, including pixels, local storage and digital fingerprinting.
Our approach: minimization by default
We have made a privacy-first choice: the Site operates with an extremely limited number of cookies, and no third-party cookie is placed without your explicit consent.
Cookies used on the Site
Strictly necessary cookies (no consent required)
These cookies are essential to the Site’s operation. They are exempt from consent under article 82 of the French Data Protection Act.
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration | Issuer |
|---|---|---|---|
lang_pref | Remember chosen language (FR/EN) | 12 months | L’Heure du Voyage |
cookie_consent | Remember your choice in the cookie banner | 6 months | L’Heure du Voyage |
| Cloudflare security cookies | Protection against attacks (DDoS, malicious bots) | Session | Cloudflare |
Audience measurement (cookieless)
Audience analytics on the Site are powered by Plausible Analytics, an EU-based solution that places no cookies. Data is anonymized at collection and aggregated immediately (no individual identifier, no cross-referencing of visits). Pursuant to the CNIL deliberation of September 17, 2020, this solution is exempt from consent.
If you still wish to block Plausible, you may activate a tracker blocker (uBlock Origin, Privacy Badger); this will not affect your browsing on the Site.
Third-party cookies linked to affiliate links (consent required)
When you click an outbound affiliate link (to Booking, Chapka, Revolut, Airalo, etc.), the partner site may place its own cookies on your device. These cookies are issued by the partner, not by us, and are governed by the partner’s own privacy policy.
You remain in control:
- you may refuse to click these links;
- you may configure your browser to block third-party cookies;
- you may use private browsing mode.
| Third-party cookie type | Typical partner | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Affiliate commission tracking | Affiliate networks (Awin, CJ, direct platforms) | Attributing a sale to our site |
| Partner site cookies | Chapka, Booking, Revolut, etc. | Operation of partner site |
Social media cookies (consent required)
The Site does not embed any third-party social sharing button loading external scripts (Facebook Like, Twitter widget, etc.). If external embeds are added in future (YouTube, Vimeo for videos), they will be loaded in “no-cookie” mode by default, or subject to your explicit consent.
How to manage your cookies
Via our consent banner
On your first visit, a banner offers to configure your preferences. You can return to this choice at any time by clicking the “Manage my cookies” link in the Site footer.

Consequences of refusal
Refusing strictly necessary cookies is not possible (they are essential to Site operation).
Refusing third-party cookies linked to affiliate links does not affect your reading experience on the Site. It may however prevent some partner features from working correctly during a purchase (e.g., negotiated offers).
Retention and security
No cookie has a duration longer than 13 months, in line with CNIL recommendations. Data from strictly necessary cookies is stored exclusively on secure infrastructure (Cloudflare, ISO 27001 compliant).
Policy updates
This policy may be modified to reflect technical or regulatory changes. The update date is shown at the bottom of the page. Any substantial change (new cookie, new partner) is signaled by a banner on the User’s next visit.
