How to get around
Australia is a continent: East Coast distances are huge. Over 7 days, one domestic flight links Sydney to Cairns (3h, against 24h by road). The rest is by train, bus and rental car. Budget ~€120 for domestic transport.

Adapt by season
Australia is in the southern hemisphere: summer (December to February) is hot. For the tropical East Coast (Cairns, Great Barrier Reef), aim for the dry season from May to October: less humidity, better underwater visibility, and above all outside the stinger season (November to April), when open-sea swimming is unwise without a suit. Sydney stays pleasant almost year-round, mild from September to November.
