2 weeks
The whole country, from the desert castles to the Dana reserve.

How to get around
A week is best done by rental car from Amman: the country is compact and the roads good. Without a licence, the JETT bus links Amman, Petra and Aqaba, topped up with local taxis.
Jordan Pass
~€100 · covers the visa and 40+ sites including Petra and Wadi Rum · buy before departure
Rental car
€35-55/day · French licence accepted · ideal for the King's Highway
JETT bus
Amman-Petra ~€12 · air-conditioned · online booking advised
Camp 4×4 (Wadi Rum)
included in the camp night · the only way into the protected desert
Adapt by season
Jordan is best in spring (March-May) and autumn (September-November): 20 to 28°C, perfect for Petra and Wadi Rum. Summer (June-August) bakes at Petra and the Dead Sea nears 40°C; plan early-morning visits. Winter is mild by day but the Wadi Rum desert drops to 4°C at night: a good sleeping bag is essential if you sleep in a Bedouin camp.
