    The capital of Mackintosh style

Architect Charles Rennie Mackintosh stamped the city with his unmistakable Art Nouveau.

  • 4

    A UNESCO-listed music scene

FAQ

Glasgow FAQ

How many days to visit Glasgow? +
Two days cover the historic center, the West End and one or two museums. A third day allows a trip to Loch Lomond or Stirling, both under an hour away.
What's the best neighborhood to stay in Glasgow? +
City Centre for proximity to the stations and gigs. West End for the bohemian, green vibe. Merchant City for trendy bars and restaurants.
Glasgow or Edinburgh: which to choose? +
Edinburgh for historic monuments and classic beauty, Glasgow for nightlife, music and down-to-earth character. Both are 1h apart by train, so combining them is ideal.
Do you need a car to visit Glasgow? +
No, the Subway, trains and walking are enough in the city. A car only becomes useful for exploring Loch Lomond or the Highlands at your own pace.
Do you need a visa for Glasgow? +
Not for French nationals on a tourist stay under 6 months, but an ETA (paid electronic travel authorization) has been required since 2025. See our Scotland visa guide.
