Adapt by season

Singapore is a year-round city

On the equator, Singapore stays at 26-32°C all year, with heavy showers possible every day. The wettest season runs November to January (northeast monsoon), the driest February to April. Whatever the month, plan indoor visits (museums, air-conditioned malls, Gardens by the Bay) for the afternoon, when storms often break.

Author tips

What I would redo (and change)

✅ Would redo

  • In March 2025, booking the Gardens by the Bay domes for late afternoon: we rolled straight into the lit Garden Rhapsody at 7:45pm without crossing the city again.
  • Eat in the hawker centres rather than restaurants: Maxwell and Lau Pa Sat serve Michelin-level food at canteen prices.
  • Keep Bintan for a real beach break in the middle of a very urban week.

⚠️ Would change

  • Skip Universal Studios if you're not into parks: Sentosa offers enough beaches and views.
  • Swap Bintan for Batam if you mainly want cheap seafood and spas.
  • On 7 days, don't try to squeeze in Malaysia: Singapore deserves these whole days.

FAQ

Itinerary FAQ

Is a week in Singapore too much? +
No if you take your time: Marina Bay, the ethnic quarters, Sentosa and the gardens easily fill 5 days, and a Bintan or Batam escape adds a welcome beach break.
Do you need a car in Singapore? +
No, never. The MRT reaches everywhere, clean, air-conditioned and cheap (€1-2 a trip). A car is useless and costly in the city-state.
Do you need a visa for Singapore? +
Many nationalities enter visa-free up to 90 days. An electronic arrival card (SG Arrival Card) must be filled online within 3 days before arrival. For Bintan/Batam, plan the Indonesian Digital Arrival Card.
Is this itinerary family-friendly? +
Very much: Sentosa, the Night Safari, the Supertrees and Jewel Changi delight children. Everything is stroller-accessible thanks to the MRT and malls.
What's the best period? +
Year-round, the equatorial climate varies little (26-32°C). February to April is driest. Always carry an umbrella: showers are brief but daily.
How much does a week cost all in? +
Count around €1,400 backpacker, €1,900 comfort and €3,600 premium, flight from Paris included, per person. Singapore remains Southeast Asia's most expensive city.
