How to get around
A month mixes self-drive and domestic flights. You drive from Cape Town to Addo, then a flight avoids 1,500 km to Kruger. A second flight via Durban links the Drakensberg and the coast. Count ~€250-300 of domestic flights and a car rental on two segments.

Adapt by season
Over 30 days, you cross both climates. Cape Town and the Garden Route are best in the southern summer (Nov-Mar), Kruger and the Drakensberg in the southern winter (Apr-Oct, dry and clear). The shoulder period of May-June or September-October suits this grand tour best. The KwaZulu-Natal coast (Durban, iSimangaliso) stays warm and swimmable almost year-round. Avoid mid-December to mid-January.
