Adapt by season
Over 14 days, the wind matters. From May to September (south-east monsoon), the sea is choppier on the east of Mahé and Praslin: favour the western beaches and morning boat trips, which are calmer. From November to March (north-west monsoon), the sea is flat, ideal for snorkelling at Curieuse and Cousin, but expect short showers. April and October, between the two monsoons, offer the steadiest conditions. The Cat Cocos ferries run all year.
