How to get around
A month allows you to mix express buses, KTX and a single domestic flight to Jeju. The only truly useful flight is the crossing to Jeju, the rest is overland. A T-money card covers metro and buses in each city.
Express bus Seoul → Sokcho
€20 · 2h20 · up to 49 departures/day
Bus Sokcho → Andong → Gyeongju
€15-25 · intercity links
KTX Gyeongju → Busan
€8 · 30 min · the fastest leg
KTX Busan → Jeonju
€30 · 2-3h · via Iksan
Flight to Jeju and back to Seoul
€40-60 · 1h · Jeju Air, Jin Air, Korean Air
Adapt by season
This route circles the highlands and both coasts. In autumn (October), start with Mount Seorak, whose foliage is the first to turn in the country. In spring, the Gyeongju and Jinhae cherry blossoms are worth the detour in early April. In summer, the monsoon and heat make it worth lengthening Jeju and the east coast, more open by the sea. In winter, keep Jeju and Busan for the end: the south coast stays mild while the North and Seorak freeze.
