Adapt by season

Adapt the pace to the season

This itinerary works almost year-round. In spring (April) and autumn (October) everything is at its best, but book the Gyeongju and Jeonju hotels early, as these towns fill up during cherry-blossom and foliage season. In summer (July-August), the monsoon and heat make it worth lengthening Jeju and Busan, more open by the sea. In winter, keep Jeju and the South for the end: the coast stays mild while Seoul freezes.

What I would redo (and change)

✅ Would redo

  • • In October 2025, the 30-minute Gyeongju-Busan KTX amazed me: you leave the thousand-year-old tumuli in the morning and lunch by the sea at noon.
  • • Sleeping in a hanok guesthouse in Jeonju: waking up under a traditional timber frame is worth the slightly firm heated floor.
  • • Keeping Jeju for the end: finishing on the volcanic island after the city intensity changes everything.
  • • Renting a hanbok for Gyeongbokgung and the Jeonju village: free entries and far more photos.

⚠️ Would change

  • • Cut Seoul to 3 days if the DMZ doesn't tempt you, and add a night on Jeju.
  • • Swap the Jeonju-Gyeongju bus for a KTX detour via Daejeon if you dread the road.
  • • On 14 days, don't add Mount Seorak: it deserves its own two days, best kept for a month.

Do I need a Korail Pass for this itinerary? +
It can pay off. With three KTX journeys (Seoul-Jeonju, Gyeongju-Busan, and the return), a Flexible 2- or 3-day pass may cover the cost of long-distance tickets. Compare for your dates: one-off tickets are sometimes cheaper.
How do I get to Jeju? +
By air or ferry only. The Busan-Jeju flight takes 1h and costs €40-60. Jeju Air, Jin Air and Korean Air run dozens of rotations a day, on one of the busiest air routes in the world.
Does this itinerary work with kids? +
Yes, lightened: the hanok villages and beaches please children, and the KTX distances are short. Plan a rest day on Jeju, where renting a car makes everything easier.
Should I book all hotels before leaving? +
Seoul and Jeju: yes (high demand). Gyeongju and Jeonju: a few days ahead is enough outside cherry-blossom and foliage season, when these towns fill up. Busan: book Haeundae ahead in summer.
What is the best season for this itinerary? +
April-May (cherry blossoms) and October (autumn foliage). June to August: hot, humid and monsoon. December to February: dry cold in Seoul, but Jeju and Busan stay mild.
How much does two weeks cost all in? +
