How to get around
This itinerary combines 1 scenic train, 1 car in the fjords, 2 domestic flights and 1 coastal express. The big Bergen-Lofoten leap is by plane: the road would take three days.
Train Oslo → Flåm
€150 · Bergen Line + Flåmsbana · 6 h
Car Flåm → Ålesund
€80/day · mountain roads + ferries
Flight Bergen → Lofoten (via Bodø)
€180 · 2h30 with connection · book early
Car in the Lofoten
€70/day · one road, the E10, links the whole archipelago
Hurtigruten coastal express
€150 · Svolvær → Tromsø · Trollfjord en route
Adapt by season
This itinerary targets summer (June to August): midnight sun in the Lofoten, open mountain roads, full ferry frequency. In June-July the sun never sets north of the Arctic Circle. In winter the Lofoten keep their charm under snow and offer auroras, but the Geiranger-Trollstigen road closes and days are very short: switch then to a southern-fjords combo (by train) plus the Lofoten by plane.
